Robert Trory joined with pianist Valerie Tryon and the London Symphony Orchestra to record Mozart Piano Concertos. The sessions took place at the Henry Wood Hall on April 18 & 19.
The CD is available to purchase now and has recieved rave reviews.
"Although some may find the orchestral tuttis a little more full-blooded than is perhaps the norm with recordings of this repertory, the approach here is never anachronistic, and there is some delightful interplay between the piano and the London Symphony Orchestra’s woodwind in the first movement. Crystal-clear recording balance is almost ideal with the piano beautifully embedded into the orchestral texture rather than dominating it."
BBC Music Magazine - 'Orchestral CD of the month' in March 2010
"Even in a British scene with no shortage of Mozart concerto recordings on contemporary instruments, this is a standout release that should find a wide audience."
James Manheim, All Music Guide (Internet)
"Despite the textural intricacy of the writing, conductor Trory manages to keep the martial flow transparent and woodwind line fluid. That the interwoven dialogue between the solo part and the members of the orchestra reaches a quadruple eight-part canon becomes a merely academic point in the midst of so much integrated harmony."
Gary Lemco - Audiophile Audition (Internet) - February, 2010
